The work of Veterans With Dogs has been highlighted with a specially commissioned film by Channel 4 to show the remarkable way that dogs can be trained to assist Veterans with mental health conditions. The film, aired on Day One of Crufts, was filmed at our location in Devon and was featured as part of this year’s Channel 4 'Crufts' TV coverage.
Channel 4 wanted to show how specially trained dogs have the power to change people’s lives for the better, and was a main subject throughout the four days of coverage at Crufts. Other organisation such as Dogs for Good and Medical Detection Dogs were highlighted with films showing their own unique projects too.
Our film showed approved trainers attending mental health awareness training, and also interviews with two of our Veterans - Mark and Jason who kindly agreed to be featured in this film. Both talked about the difficulties of living with PTSD and of the profound difference a dog trained for mental health has made for them.
