“The London Marathon was easily one of the most memorable experiences I’ve ever had, and without doubt one of the toughest. There were moments when my legs felt incredibly heavy but the support from the crowds, especially those cheering when they spotted the Veterans With Dogs shirt, gave me the lift I needed to keep going. I’m hugely grateful to Veterans With Dogs for giving me the opportunity to take part and proud to have completed it in support of such a fantastic cause.”

– Craig Barrington, Veterans With Dogs London Marathon Runner 2026

” I was lucky enough to run the London Marathon in 2025, and it was the most amazing day ever! The Veterans with Dogs team were a huge support and it was a pleasure running it on behalf of such a wonderful cause. I would recommend to anyone looking to achieve such an amazing goal. The crowds were amazing and the atmosphere is incredible, not a day I will forget any time soon! Thank you to Veterans with Dogs for sharing this experience with me.”

FAQ’s

Why run for Veterans With Dogs?

When you run for Veterans With Dogs, you will receive:

  • A Veterans With Dogs running vest or t-shirt.
  • Dedicated support from us throughout your marathon journey, including fundraising ideas, resources and bags of encouragement.
  • Plenty of support before race day and a warm welcome from our team cheering you on as you take on the challenge.
  • The knowledge that every mile you run will help us provide life-changing assistance dogs and support to veterans across the UK.

What is the difference between a ballot place and a charity place?

A ballot place is a place you secure directly through the TCS London Marathon public ballot. If you’re lucky enough to receive one, you can choose to run for any charity you would like and we’d be delighted if you chose to support Veterans With Dogs.

A charity place is one of the limited places allocated directly to Veterans With Dogs by the London Marathon. We have a small number of charity places available each year for runners who commit to raising a minimum fundraising amount for our charity.

How do I secure a charity place with Team Veterans With Dogs?

Simply complete our charity place application form. We will ask you a few questions about your motivation for running and your fundraising plans. As places are limited, we will review all applications before offering places to successful applicants.

When will I receive my running top?

Once you have accepted your place and started your fundraising, we will contact you to arrange your preferred size and send out your Veterans With Dogs running vest or t-shirt in plenty of time for race day.

Why do you have a fundraising target?

As a small charity, every charity place represents a significant investment from us. The fundraising target helps ensure we can continue providing and training assistance dogs, supporting veterans and covering the cost of our marathon places. Every pound you raise makes a real difference to the veterans and families we support.

What happens if I don’t reach my fundraising target?

We understand that fundraising can sometimes be challenging. We will support you every step of the way with ideas, resources and advice to help you achieve your target. If you are worried you may not reach it, please speak to us as early as possible. We will always work with you to find the best solution.

Does Gift Aid count towards my fundraising total?

Yes. Gift Aid can be included towards your fundraising total, provided donations are eligible and successfully claimed.

When do I need to reach my fundraising target?

We ask that you raise as much as possible before marathon day, as this helps us plan our services. Any remaining sponsorship should be paid in within the timeframe agreed with our fundraising team after the event.

What if I get injured and can’t take part?

We are sorry if this happens. Please let us know as soon as possible so we can discuss your options.
